The Division of Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Diseases (KUH) at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) currently supports several institutional and individual training and career development programs. The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to establish a single Coordinating Center to unite and harmonize these programs, which collectively aim to recruit, train, and retain an active, national community of researchers in KUH mission areas across career stages. This BRAIN Initiative Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support scaled reagent production and distribution facilities involving technologies to access brain cell types. Facilities for production and distribution of these reagents by a broad set of neuroscientists will be encouraged. This NOFO is part of the BRAIN Initiative Armamentarium for Brain Cell Access transformative project. Efforts will be supported to produce and distribute gene transfer, gene regulation, and genome engineering reagents for use in both genetically tractable and less tractable systems, including primates and human tissue, which are relevant for future translational efforts. Reagents to be produced and distributed are those designed and validated under other NOFOs from the Armamentarium transformative project.

This initiative is intended to support effectiveness research to evaluate innovative programs, practices, or policies to address risk for interpersonal violence and suicide among groups experiencing a high burden of these issues. Innovative approaches are those that have not been rigorously evaluated for effectiveness in reducing interpersonal violence or suicide. Analyses examining how the approach affects different populations that are most impacted by these issues are a priority. Funds are available to conduct studies focused on preventing interpersonal violence or suicide involving youth or young adults (ages 10–24 years), including child abuse and neglect, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, suicide, and youth violence.

This is a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a Single Source that will invite an application from the eligible organization to apply. Please see Section III. In accordance with NIH standard peer-review processes, the application will be peer-reviewed, and if it is not a meritorious application, it will not be funded. This single source NOFO is intended to support a Data Coordinating Center (DCC) to conduct the activities of the Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network (CTSN). The DCC will consist of two collaborating components including a Data Management and Analytics Center (DMAC) and a Clinical Coordination Center (CCC). NHLBI strongly encourages multi-PD/PI applications with two PDs/PIs; one PD/PI for the DMAC and one PD/PI for the CCC. The primary responsibility of the DCC is to oversee the conduct of multiple randomized clinical trials in the CTSN.The DCC will support regulatory and administrative activities, data collection and management, and statistical analysis and reporting of trial results in a timely manner. The DCC will promote collaboration and communication among CTSN investigators and the broader research community and will coordinate outreach activities including engaging foundations, research entities, and small businesses in trials of mutual interest and public health importance. The DCC is responsible for integrating the efforts of clinical sites, core laboratories, and other collaborators, and conducting long-term follow-up centrally via telephone follow-up at the DCC. The NHLBI anticipates that the DCC will manage a Clinical and Implementation Research Skills Program centrally. The clinical and implementation research scholars program will support the expanded integration of clinical skills with dissemination and implementation science scholarship to enhance implementation research capacity. The scholars program would be designed to foster additional research questions within CTSN as well as generate a cohort of researchers who would transport their scholarship as they transition to leadership positions in academic and clinical programs.

Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP)-Planning supports organizations in rural communities to build the partnerships and foundational capacity needed to develop, implement and sustain a comprehensive system of substance use disorder (SUD) and related services. RCORP"s focus is on opioid misuse and its impact on rural America. However, HRSA recognizes that people who misuse opioids often struggle with other substances as well, including alcohol. Individuals struggling with SUD, including opioid use disorder (OUD), need a continuum of mental, behavioral, and related social supports. RCORP-Planning helps address these needs in a comprehensive way.This program is intended for rural communities that may find the logistics or requirements of larger, more complex federal grant programs to be barriers to accessing start-up support. Funding will serve as a critical first step to creating SUD service systems that make care easy to access, strengthen the behavioral health workforce, and have strong community buy-in. It will help prepare communities to provide sustainable prevention, treatment, recovery, and other supportive services that:reduce substance use initiation and misuse,address the mental, behavioral, and psychosocial needs of people who use illicit substances or misuse alcohol, or are in recovery from substance use problems, andreduce disease and death related to substance use problems, including OUD, in high-risk rural communities.The intent of this program is to fund planning activities only.
